One time, the water suddenly disappeared in the village where Shinta, a horse herder, lived. The villagers thought the dragon living in the cave called Shokugahora must have drank up the water in the holding pond, and confined the dragon to the cave. Three days later, Shinta passed by the cave and heard the dragon moaning. The sad voice of the dragon sounded like saying "give me water, I want water, clean water, please..." Shinta felt pity for the dragon and poured his drinking water into the cave from the gap between the stacked stones and tenderly removed the bar that was locking him up. On the next day, when Shinta was resting on a hill after work, the sky suddenly turned black and it started to rain heavily all at once with the five-colored light shining down. It was the dragon transformed into the five-colored light to bring big rainfall to the village to thank Shinta. The villagers thanked the dragon and began to offer fresh cold water in front of the cave of Shokugahora to pray for rain when they had dry spells.

The kids from Owariasahi handcrafted the rain cloud and the five-colored light ball of the dragon. They stuck pink and yellow Japanese paper onto the white mounting to make the cloud and the sun. Some kids liked the smooth and glistering touch of glue and enjoyed sliding their hands around on the paper.
