Miyashige Daikon is the representative specialty food of Haruhicho. Unfortunatelly, its planting amount had decreased after the Pacific War and none is grown presently.
The folk story of Miyashige Daikon is that a long time ago, when the lord of Owari was hunting animals, one of his arrows happened to hit a daikon and he tried it out and found it tasty. According to that story, the famous Nerima Daikon is at the same root as Miyashige Daikon.

The kids regenerated the lost daikon with Japanese paper. They cut out the leaves first, then wrapped natural cotton stuffing in Japanese papers, rolled them up, folded them and so on. The handicraft was a little difficult even for adults, but the kids did it so well! The bumper crop of Miyashige Daikon had returned there!
