Once upon a time, a mischievous old fox lived in Atago-no Mori in Kiyosu. There is a folk tale of a cooper being just a little bit greedy and thus beaten up by the fox pretty badly. The people in Kiyosu began to enshrine the old fox at Atago Shrine to avoid being suffered.

The kids from Kiyosu referred to "Kitsune-no Yomeiri Gyouretsu (Fox Marriage Procession)," an actual traditional event of Niigata to make the objet d'art. They wore face paintings and the fox marriage procession costumes and took pictures of each kid! They painted their faces white with red cheeks and put on the fox-like nose and mustache. We hid the mirrors until the end to surprise them. It was funny some kids didn't want to have their faces painted all white like maiko and tried to run away. The costumes were made from old pajamas and summer cotton kimonos. For some reason, the servant's costume was the post popular among the kids.
