Eight years have passed since the Nepal earthquake on 25th April, 2015. Nepal still bears the scars of the disaster and continues to face various social issues such as poverty. However, the smiles of the children, who are living earnestly, bring hope and energy for the future. Whilst education has not been adequately provided due to the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19, we will conduct an SDGs education program for children to solve social issues with ‘MOMOTARO,’ the first original character of Nepal.

【 A 】Main ProgramEducational Event Conducting on 24th FebruaryMOMOTARO FESTIVAL

We will hold the MOMOTARO PROJECT Launch Event at Boudhanath, one of the major sites in Nepal. This event will be conducted in collaboration with the local people to support the education of Nepalese children. The program will include the awarding of the “MOMOTARO Picture Book” and storytelling sessions. There will be performances by children and famous Nepalese personalities, including songs, dances, and plays of MOMOTARO. Through these performances, we will mark the start of this project and express our commitment to children’s education and the reconstruction efforts following the earthquake in western Nepal. The event aims to send a message of resilience and hope, highlighted by the smiles of MOMOTARO and the people of Nepal and the world.

Educational Support Through Picture Books
MOMOTARO Picture Book Awarding Ceremony and Storytelling Session
We will gift the first original Nepalese character MOMOTARO picture book to the children invited to the program. This book, which addresses various issues occurring in Nepal and teaches about the SDGs through action, is a means to provide educational support through picture books. We will also conduct storytelling sessions of the picture book. Our aim is not only to reach the children but also to communicate with the many people gathered at the event, expanding the circle of educational support.

Connecting Through Singing and Dancing
Let’s Sing and Dance with MOMOTARO
There will be performances of songs and dances by the children of Nepal. Let’s all sing and dance together to the MOMOTARO song!

From Nepal to the World, Sending Wishes for Reconstruction and Smiles
MERRY NEPAL UMBRELLA
At Boudhanath, we will open umbrellas featuring the smiles of children, who are the hope of Nepal.

Earthquake Reconstruction and Educational Support Activities at Orphanages, Welfare Facilities and Schools

＜Date＞Monday, 19st February, 2024 to Sunday, 25th February
＜Location＞Around Kathmandu, Nepal

In addition to the main program on Saturday 24th, we will also visit orphanages, welfare facilities and schools in Kathmandu.
The event will also support education and the earthquake reconstruction through the contents of
❶ picture book distribution, ❷ picture book storytelling, ❸ singing and dancing session of “MOMOTARO Dance” and ❹ smile umbrella photo shoots.
